School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) invites qualified individuals to apply for a Temporary Industrial Mechanic/Millwright position at the District Education Support Centre. This CUPE union position offers rate of pay of $37.74 per hour working twenty-four (24) hours per week starting September 17, 2026, until June 30, 2027, or the return of incumbent, and/or services no longer required, whichever comes first.
The District: In the School District, we serve just over 6,700 students and 1200 staff across 26 schools operating through a variety of sites located throughout Shuswap Lake and North Okanagan. We are known for robust academic achievement, a thriving trades and careers program, and a rich culture of school athletics. The school district enjoys comprehensive Local Education Agreements with each of four First Nations bands.
One elementary, one middle, and one secondary school offer French Immersion.

To provide trained Millwright services to the School District in the areas of repair and fabrication of parts and equipment as well as perform general labor and maintenance duties. Performs duties pertaining to the Millwright Trade as required.
Layout,
Move, Repair, Assemble, Disassemble, Install New and Existing Industrial Heavy Equipment in accordance with WCB regulations. Dust Collectors, Compressors, Wood, Metal, Science & Auto shop related Equipment etc. Fabrication.
Welding, Cutting, Grinding, etc. Research and Purchase of Tools, Parts, and Materials. and Manager of Facilities on Replacement of Equipment Makes Minor Electronic and Electrical Repairs Travels Through Out the School Dist. Work in the School Districts Industrial Education Shops & Maintenance Facility.
Certificate as a journeyman as set out in the B.Apprenticeship Act for Proficiency as a Millwright-Industrial Mechanic T.Q. pursuant to the Apprenticeship and Tradesman's Qualification Act. Four years' relevant work experience as a tradesperson in maintenance within the specified trade. Knowledge of all related mechanical test equipment and tools.
