Your Main Responsibilities
As a Intermediate Roofing Engineer, you will collaborate with the Building Science team to deliver roofing and building envelope projects across Ontario. Leveraging your technical expertise and project management skills, you will provide practical, innovative solutions for clients while supporting project quality, safety, and successful delivery.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Lead the assessment, design, rehabilitation, and replacement of roofing systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential buildings;
- Conduct detailed condition assessments, roof inspections, leak investigations, and forensic evaluations to identify deficiencies and recommend cost-effective solutions;
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, construction documents, and design packages for roofing restoration and replacement projects;
- Provide technical leadership and support to project teams during the development of plans, specifications, and contract documents;
- Oversee project delivery, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and risk management;
- Review shop drawings, contractor submissions, and construction progress to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards;
- Perform contract administration services, including site reviews, field reporting, change order evaluations, and project closeout activities;
- Collaborate with drafting and multidisciplinary teams to develop accurate and coordinated design drawings;
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive service and trusted technical guidance;
- Identify health and safety risks associated with project activities and promote safe work practices among project stakeholders;
- Mentor and support junior engineers, technologists, and technical staff while fostering professional development within the team;
- Contribute to business development initiatives through networking, client engagement, proposal preparation, and participation in technical presentations;
- Support multidisciplinary projects involving building envelope, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems;
- Participate in field investigations and site visits, with travel required throughout the region as necessary;
- Promote and uphold Englobe's commitment to quality, innovation, sustainability, and health and safety excellence.
What Makes You Unique
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Building Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline;
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario is required;
- Registered Roof Observer (RRO) designation (considered an asset);
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in roofing design, building envelope consulting, rehabilitation, and condition assessment projects;
- Extensive knowledge of commercial and institutional roofing systems, roofing materials, waterproofing systems, and building envelope assemblies;
- Strong understanding of applicable building codes, industry standards, roofing specifications, and construction practices;
- Experience preparing technical specifications, tender documents, construction drawings, and contract administration services for roofing projects;
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including budgets, schedules, client expectations, and technical deliverables;
- Experience conducting roof investigations, leak assessments, forensic studies, and lifecycle evaluations;
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary project teams;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients;
- Knowledge of structural systems, building mechanics, and electrical systems (considered an asset);
- Experience with business development, proposal writing,
and client relationship management (considered an asset);
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset;
- Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety and safe work practices;
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for site visits.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000 CAD base per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, positioning within our internal compensation structure, and relevant geographic cost-of-living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role. Compensation may also include a comprehensive benefits package, performance incentives, or bonus eligibility, depending on the role level and business unit. We aim to foster transparency, respect candidates’ time, and ensure equitable compensation aligned with our company values.
