Jira Service Management Intake & Automation Developer
Key Responsibilities
Design and scale Jira Service Management portals, intake forms, request types, custom fields, workflows, approvals, queues, SLAs, permissions, and validation rules.
- Build automation that classifies, prioritizes, routes, assigns, and tracks work with minimal manual intervention.
- Develop reusable workflows for task creation, subtasks, dependencies, notifications, escalations, SLAs, and status transitions.
- Build production-grade Java services, utilities, and integrations supporting Jira intake automation and enterprise workflows.
- Use Python and other scripting languages to develop automation, integration utilities, AI workflows, and operational tooling.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs, webhooks, middleware, and event-driven integrations using Java, Spring Boot, Python, JSON, and HTTP.
- Apply AI and intelligent automation to classify requests, extract structured data, recommend priority and ownership, identify duplicates, and improve routing accuracy.
- Integrate Jira with Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams, GitHub, Azure DevOps, email, identity platforms, and other enterprise systems.
- Design responsible AI workflows with validation, confidence thresholds, explainability, security, privacy, human review, and fallback mechanisms.
- Create dashboards and reporting for intake volume, demand patterns, aging, throughput, SLA performance, routing accuracy, and automation effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, audit records, distributed tracing, and test cases.
- Establish testing, monitoring,
deployment, rollback, access-control, security, and governance practices for Jira, Java, Python, and AI solutions.
- Partner with engineering, product, program management, QA, operations, and business teams to convert ambiguous requirements into reliable systems.
- Document technical designs, business rules, AI behavior, integration contracts, security controls, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications / Skillsets
- 3+ years of experience administering, developing, or automating Jira, preferably Jira Service Management.
- Hands-on experience with Jira Service Management forms, request types, workflows, custom fields, queues, SLAs, permissions, notifications, approvals, and dashboards.
- Skilled experience developing production applications or services in Java, preferably with Spring Boot, and/or Python.
- Experience with Jira REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, HTTP methods, and authentication mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, API tokens, and service accounts.
- Practical experience applying AI, generative AI, natural-language processing, or intelligent automation to business workflows.
- Proficiency with SQL and at least one scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, Groovy,
or PowerShell.
- Experience designing scalable, secure, observable, testable, and maintainable production systems.
- Understanding of secure integration practices, including least-privilege access, secrets management, auditability, and protection of sensitive or personal information.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience working in Agile, DevOps, project management, or enterprise operations environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jira Cloud or Data Center and Atlassian tools such as Forge, ScriptRunner, Assets, Advanced Roadmaps, or Marketplace applications.
- Experience with LangChain, Amazon Bedrock, or comparable AI platforms.
- Experience building retrieval-augmented generation systems, prompt workflows, classification models, embeddings, vector search, or AI evaluation frameworks.
- Experience integrating Jira with CI/CD pipelines, cloud services, message queues, databases, and observability platforms.
- Experience with AWS or another cloud platform, Docker or Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and configuration as code.
- Knowledge of cloud identity and access management, including roles, policies, service identities, cross-account access, and least-privilege design.
- Knowledge of responsible AI, data privacy, access control, model-risk management, and enterprise governance.
- Atlassian Jira or Java certification.
- Knowledge of ITIL, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or related operating frameworks.
