Overview The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC), Geoanalytical Laboratories, Geochemistry section has an opening for a Lab Assistant. This position is part of a larger team process to conduct laboratory analysis for our mining and minerals clients. This position is a 6-month term.

Accountabilities

- Sample preparation, weighing, drying, subsampling, filtration, acid digestion and extract samples of different matrices (including but not limited to soil, water, plant, and rocks), working with acid and radioactive samples.
- Washing dishware and general laboratory upkeep.
- Generate work lists from Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and perform all required record-keeping & documentation.
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all SRC health and safety policies and procedures.





Qualifications

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- The use of safety equipment (foot protection, lab coats, gloves and safety glasses) is required and will be provided.
- Some heavy lifting (up to 30 kg) and working in a dusty environment will be required.
- Extended work hours (up to 12 hours per day) and occasional weekend work, as required.
- Previous lab experience is an asset but is not required. All necessary training will be provided.

Skills

- A strong work ethic, reliability and a willingness to take on varied tasks as required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment with high attention to detail.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines such as turnaround times (TAT) and holding requirements.

The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.

This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
