Landscape Foreman / Crew Lead

Better Finish Property Services is looking for an experienced Landscape Foreman / Crew Lead with both property maintenance and hardscaping experience.

We are looking for someone reliable, skilled, professional and capable of eventually managing a landscaping crew and daily route with limited supervision.

The successful candidate will work directly with the owner during the beginning of the season to learn our properties, standards, equipment and procedures. As trust is built and experience is demonstrated, the role will grow into greater leadership and responsibility.

Responsibilities include:

- Leading and working alongside a landscaping crew
- Lawn cutting, trimming, edging and blowing
- Spring and fall cleanups
- Garden and property maintenance
- Interlock and paver installation
- Base preparation and compaction
- Grading and levelling
- Retaining walls
- Garden edging and stonework
- Drainage work
- Excavation and site preparation
- Operating commercial landscaping equipment
- Operating skid steers, mini excavators and compact equipment where qualified
- Loading, unloading and organizing equipment
- Following daily routes and schedules
- Inspecting completed work before leaving each property
- Taking job photos and completing service records
- Reporting property issues, damages or client concerns
- Communicating professionally with management and property representatives
- Eventually driving the company truck between properties and job sites
- Training and supervising other crew members

Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years of qualified landscaping experience preferred
- Hands-on hardscaping experience required
- Experience with interlock, grading, base preparation and retaining walls




- Previous crew lead or foreman experience strongly preferred
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence
- Clean and responsible driving record
- Comfortable driving a pickup truck with landscaping equipment
- Experience operating commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers and similar equipment
- Compact equipment experience is an asset
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently
- Able to manage workers and keep jobs on schedule
- Physically capable of performing landscaping and hardscaping work
- Reliable transportation to the company meeting location

Compensation and 3 Month Probation Period: This position begins with a 3 month probationary period at $22.00 per hour.

During the probationary period, the employee will work directly with the owner while their landscaping ability, hardscaping experience, reliability, leadership, equipment operation, driving ability, communication and overall performance are evaluated.

After successfully completing the probationary period and demonstrating the required experience and leadership ability, compensation will be increased based on performance and responsibility.

Post-probation pay is expected to range from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on demonstrated skill, hardscaping experience, leadership ability and capacity to independently manage a crew and daily operations.





Employees who demonstrate the ability to successfully run the daily landscaping operation with limited supervision may qualify toward the higher end of the pay range.

Hours: Approximately 40 to 50 hours per week during the landscaping season.

Winter Work Opportunity:

There may also be an opportunity for winter employment with Better Finish Property Services during the snow and ice management season.

Winter responsibilities may include:

Salting and de-icing

Sidewalk clearing

Operating snow removal equipment

Driving company vehicles for winter service (if needed)

Following snow routes and service schedules

Completing service logs and site condition reports

Winter work may involve early mornings, overnight shifts, weekends and on-call availability depending on weather conditions.

Employees who perform well during the landscaping season may be considered for continued winter employment and additional responsibility within the company.

Company Vehicle When truck is available: A company truck will be provided for work-related driving during scheduled shifts if available once the employee is approved to operate the vehicle. The vehicle remains with the company and is not a take-home vehicle.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with Better Finish Property Services, take on greater responsibility as the company expands and potentially work with us year-round through both landscaping and winter snow operations.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
