Delano Academy is an established independent school expanding its licensed early learning programs through CWELCC. We are building a team of passionate educators who believe in excellence, professionalism, collaboration, and creating exceptional experiences for children and families.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who is confident leading a classroom, mentoring others through example, and maintaining the high standards expected within a licensed Ontario child care centre.

About the Role The successful candidate will independently lead either a **Toddler or potentially a Preschool classroom while creating a warm, engaging, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys taking initiative, is confident with Ministry licensing expectations, and understands that building an exceptional childcare centre requires collaboration, flexibility, and shared responsibility.

Primary ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership

- Lead a Toddler or Preschool classroom with confidence and professionalism.
- Develop and implement engaging play-based learning experiences.
- Foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language development.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive and respectful classroom community.
- Maintain strong daily routines that promote independence and confidence.

Educational Programming

- Plan and implement curriculum consistent with:
- How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH)
- ELECT
- Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Observe, assess and document children's learning using pedagogical documentation.
- Prepare meaningful learning invitations based on children's interests and developmental needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and classroom records.

Ministry Licensing & Compliance The successful candidate must be confident working within Ontario licensed child care.

Responsibilities include

- Maintaining an inspection-ready classroom at all times.
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of:
- Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Ministry Licensing Requirements
- HDLH
- ELECT
- Health & Safety requirements
- Participating professionally during Ministry licensing inspections.
- Ensuring documentation, ratios, supervision and classroom practices consistently meet licensing requirements.
- Supporting continuous quality improvement throughout the centre.

Learning Environment

- Prepare and maintain beautiful, organized and engaging classrooms.
- Organize learning centres and classroom materials.
- Rotate resources based on children's interests.
- Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness and safety.
- Prepare learning invitations and classroom displays.
- Contribute to creating consistent learning environments throughout the centre.

- Build respectful, trusting relationships with families.
- Communicate professionally regarding children's development and well-being.
- Welcome family participation and foster positive partnerships.
- Support a caring, respectful and inclusive centre culture.

Team Collaboration At Delano Academy we believe every team member contributes to the success of the centre.

The successful candidate will

- Collaborate respectfully with RECEs, ECAs, supply staff and students.
- Share ideas, resources and best practices.
- Support and mentor less experienced educators.
- Participate in classroom preparation, seasonal transitions, centre organization and opening activities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to contribute wherever needed to support the children, families and overall operation of the centre.

Qualifications Required

- Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a licensed Ontario child care centre.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- CCEYA
- Ministry Licensing Requirements
- HDLH
- ELECT
- Child development
- Health & Safety
- Experience leading either a Toddler or Preschool classroom.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and sound professional judgement.

Preferred
- Experience participating in Ministry licensing inspections.
- Experience working within CWELCC.
- Experience using Lillio or similar childcare software.
- Experience mentoring RECEs, ECAs or placement students.
- Additional languages are considered an asset.

Compensation Salary:



$47,000–$57,000 annually, commensurate with relevant licensed child care experience, demonstrated classroom leadership, knowledge of CWELCC, Ministry licensing requirements, and overall qualifications.

Benefits are available in accordance with the organization's group benefits plan following successful completion of the probationary period.
