About the Role

Medical Office Assistant oversees the day-to-day functioning of the clinic and supports other administrative staff, clinicians, leadership, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

- Provides reception services, books appointments, recalls clients/patients for follow up appointments, relays health care provider communication to clients/patients and completes lab requisitions to facilitate follow-up appointments.
- Facilitates the effective flow of patients through the clinics. This involves direct client/patient care activities, such as taking patient vitals and assisting clinic professionals & patients in the exam room as a second attendant & chaperone for specimen collection and simple surgical procedures. Provides exam room preparation, performs urine and pregnancy tests and processes biological testing, and maintains quality and safety assurances as per clinic policy.
- Provides clinical support by keeping examination rooms clean, orderly, and stocked. Keeps waiting areas clean and disinfected as needed and as per requirements in effect. Supports flow of centre by ensuring clients are ready for appointment.
- Coordination and scheduling of primary care providers and EMR schedule management, waitlist management and prioritization of client intakes
- Support intake processes and respond to client inquiries and concerns with care




- Support for high-intensity or complex client interactions
- Maintains the operation of various devices such as computers, electronic medical records, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner to support the technological requirements of the clinic.
- Creates, updates, and maintains the security of highly confidential and sensitive information such as health care records.
- Ensure excellent, welcoming, and low-barrier customer service for clients
- Demonstrates cultural competency in the engagement of culturally safe communication with staff and clients.

Qualifications

- Diploma or certification as a medical office assistant is an asset
- Experience and/or training asa medical office or administrative setting is required
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working with digital systems and administrative software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Calm, grounded presence in a fast-paced and emotionally sensitive setting
- Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or community-based work is an asset
- Class 5 Drivers License required
- Willingness to obtain Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification
- Occasional Saturdays and evenings are an expectation for this position.
- Status: Full-time
- Location: Whitehorse, Yukon
- Compensation: $66,560 annually plus benefits
