JOB PURPOSE

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of qualified nursing practice.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Active registration with ANBLPN
- Current BCLS certification
- Minimum 1 year recent and direct experience (within last 5 years) would be an asset depending on the department (for example: Mental Health, obstetrical, haemodialysis, medical/surgical, etc.). A combination of relevant work experience and related education training will be considered.
- Willing to participate in continuing education/certification programs (i.e. breastfeeding certification, non-violent crisis intervention, Periop 101, ASIST, cast application/removal, etc.) as outlined during orientation and onboarding within a defined timeframe.
- Demonstrated assessment skills and ability to respond to emergent situations and prioritize care.




- Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to relevant legislation.
- Good work and attendance record.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prioritizes and delivers care to patients within a collaborative setting, seeking clinical guidance as required.
- Professionally communicates and consults with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients while adhering to professional boundaries.
- Provides holistic patient care and therapeutic measures to meet patient care needs
- Participates in the development of the plan of care in collaboration with the health care team, patients, and family members.
- Utilizes resources within the hospital and community to meet the health care and educational needs of patients and families.
- Participates in the orientation of new staff and provides ongoing mentorship.
- Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities.
