Role Description The Mobile Welding Truck Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Ponoka, AB. The individual in this role operates a mobile welding truck to perform field welding, fabrication, and repairs on construction and industrial equipment at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include driving to job sites, setting up and safely operating welding equipment, reading and interpreting drawings or instructions, and completing quality welds in a variety of environments and terrains.
The role involves coordinating with project supervisors and other crew members, following company and client safety procedures, and maintaining tools, welding equipment, and the truck in good working order. The operator is also responsible for accurate documentation of work performed and adherence to applicable transportation and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Commercial driving skills, including CDL Class A and secure Truck Driving experience.
- Knowledge of DOT Regulations and compliance with applicable transportation safety standards.
- Experience with loading and Unloading equipment and materials safely from a welding truck.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication, including field welding, equipment repair, and use of related tools.
- Strong safety mindset, with experience following construction or industrial safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and job specifications.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and on diverse terrains.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with supervisors, clients, and crew members.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., journeyperson welder or equivalent) and clean driving record are preferred.
