As a Security Guard with First Defence, you will be assigned to client sites throughout HRM to protect people and property, deter and respond to incidents, and deliver a high standard of customer service. Depending on the site, your duties may include access control, patrols, monitoring, incident response and reporting. You will follow site-specific post orders and work closely with our Operations Scheduler and supervisors to ensure every shift runs smoothly.

We offer a range of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights and weekends, and we work with you to build a schedule that fits. Provide a visible, professional security presence at assigned client sites Control access to buildings and restricted areas, verifying identification and signing in visitors and contractors Monitor CCTV, alarm and access control systems where installed Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, alarms, disturbances, medical emergencies and fire alarms, escalating to police, EHS or fire services as required Write clear, accurate and timely incident reports, shift logs and daily activity reports Provide directions, assistance and courteous customer service to tenants, employees, visitors and the public Follow all site-specific post orders, emergency procedures and First Defence policies Valid Nova Scotia Security Guard Licence, or eligibility to obtain one before your start date Ability to pass a criminal record check Strong verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to write clear incident reports Reliable,
