Independent Contractor Nurse Practitioner
Women's Health, Menopause and Metabolic Care
Clinic: Terra Aesthetics + Wellness
Location: Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador
Position: As-needed independent contractor
Schedule: Flexible daytime, evening, and weekend opportunities (in-person/remote)
Hours: Based on patient demand and mutual availability, with no guaranteed minimum The opportunity
Terra Aesthetics + Wellness is a Nurse Practitoner-led clinic working to close the gaps women continue to experience in perimenopause, menopause, and metabolic healthcare. We combine evidence-informed clinical care, shared decision-making, and meaningful patient education. We are expanding our clinical capacity and looking for a Nurse Practitioner who wants to help shape what better women's healthcare can look like in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The role mission
Your mission will be to provide thoughtful, evidence-informed care to patients seeking support with perimenopause, menopause, medical weight management, and metabolic health. Success in this role means delivering clinical assessments and treatment plans, communicating clearly with patients, completing reliable follow-up and documentation, and learning to apply care using our established models of care (i.e Terra 360 Vitality Program)
This is a flexible, as-needed opportunity with no guaranteed minimum hours. The commitment may range from occasional coverage to recurring clinic blocks, depending on patient demand and mutual availability. As an independent contractor, you will identify the clinic blocks you are available to accept and maintain control of your schedule. Opportunities may include virtual and in-person daytime, evening, and weekend clinics.
This role may not be the right fit if: you require guaranteed hours, prefer a highly structured employee schedule, are uncomfortable with fluctuating patient volume, or are not interested in building additional expertise in women's health. It will also not be a fit for someone whose practice is not driven by evidence, clinical judgment, and shared decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive,
evidence-informed assessments and individualized care plans for patients experiencing perimenopause and menopause.
- Help patients make informed decisions about hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options through clear education and shared decision-making.
- Provide sustainable medical weight-management and metabolic-health care that considers nutrition, movement, sleep, mental health, and cardiometabolic risk.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation and ensure investigations, prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up plans are completed reliably.
- Create a patient experience that is respectful, inclusive, clinically credible, and consistent with Terra's standards of care.
- Collaborate with Terra's clinical and administrative team while maintaining qualified autonomy and accountability.
- Contribute ideas, resources, and clinical insights that help strengthen Terra's women's-health services.
Required qualifications
- Active Nurse Practitioner licensure and good standing with the NL College of Nurses.
- Eligibility to provide Nurse Practitioner care in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Appropriate professional liability protection for independent practice.
- A commitment to evidence-informed, patient-centred, and inclusive care.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and follow-through.
- Ability to practise independently, collaborate appropriately, and recognize when consultation or referral is required.
- Ability to provide virtual and/or in-person care in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience or additional education in women's health, primary care, menopause, obesity medicine, or metabolic health.
- Experience prescribing and monitoring hormone therapy or weight-management medications.
- Familiarity with virtual care and private or community-based practice.
- A genuine interest in pursuing the Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) examination.
Are you a new Nurse Practitioner? You are encouraged to apply. You do not need to be a menopause or weight-management expert on day one. We value sound judgment, curiosity, reliability, and willingness to learn more than an already-perfect resume. Please note, aesthetic medicine experience is not required for this role.
What Terra provides
- Direct clinical mentorship from a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, including support developing expertise and preparing for the MSCP examination.
- Established patient inquiries and referral pathways.
- Welcoming clinic space in Paradise, with administrative and scheduling support.
- Access to an EMR, clinical forms, protocols, and evidence-informed resources.
- Professional autonomy and flexibility to accept clinic blocks that work with your schedule.
- An opportunity to help shape and expand Terra's women's-health services.
Compensation and practice options Competitive split or per-visit compensation, with details discussed with the successful candidate. There may also be future opportunities to participate in eligible publicly funded Nurse Practitioner service-delivery arrangements, including episodic care where available and subject to program requirements.
