Position: Overnight Prep & Night Baker

Location: Bowen Island, BC (2-minute walk from the Snug Cove Ferry Terminal)

Shift: 10:00 PM / 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM / 6:00 AM (Overnight)

Pay Rate: $24.00 – $26.00 / hour (based on experience)

About The Snug Cafe The Snug Cafe is Bowen Island’s premier morning gathering spot. Before our doors open at 5:45 AM, our glass display cases need to be stacked with warm, fresh-baked muffins, seasonal pastries, and breakfast treats for early commuters catching the first ferry.

The Role We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Overnight Baker & Kitchen Prepper to run our early-morning bake-off and morning station setup. Operating independently in a quiet kitchen, you will produce our daily baked goods, handle basic savory prep, and set up our front counter bakery display so the morning team can open seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

- Morning Bake-Off: Scratch-bake and finish daily sweet and savory muffins, scones, croissants, quick breads, and specialty pastries.




- Baking Expansion: Potential opportunity to execute artisan loaf/sandwich bread baking as our house program expands.
- Bakery Counter Setup: Set up, stage, and display fresh-baked items in the front-of-house showcase before the cafe opens.
- Overnight Clean & Sanitation: Maintain a clean work station, clean baking pans/equipment, and follow proper food handling and storage standards.

What We’re Looking For

- Baking Experience: Practical background in baking pastries, muffins, and quick breads in a commercial kitchen or cafe setting (bread baking experience is a strong asset).
- Self-Directed: Ability to work autonomously overnight, manage baking timers, and stick to a tight morning delivery timeline without direct supervision.
- Punctuality: Crucial for adhering to fixed ferry sailing schedules.
- FoodSafe Level 1: Required.
