PART-TIME LINE COOK – BANQUETS, CATERING & CAREER GROWTH

Milton Banquet & Conference Centre is seeking a reliable and motivated Part-Time Line Cook to join our culinary team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with basic kitchen experience who wants to develop their skills in banquets, weddings, catered functions and large-scale events. You do not need to arrive with extensive banquet or fine-dining experience. We are looking for someone with a solid foundation, a solid work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn.

The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced chef, gain exposure to different menus and event formats, and have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as their skills and reliability develop.

Responsibilities

- Assist with food preparation and cooking for weddings, corporate functions, social events and catering orders
- Complete assigned preparation safely, accurately and efficiently
- Support plated, buffet and other high-volume event service
- Follow recipes, portion standards and production timelines
- Assist with pizza preparation and learn our pizza-production process
- Maintain food quality, consistency and presentation
- Wash dishes, cookware and kitchen equipment
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, floors and storage areas
- Organize and restock the kitchen
- Complete kitchen setup, breakdown and closing responsibilities
- Follow food-safety, sanitation and allergen procedures
- Communicate effectively with the chef and other members of the event team

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen
- Basic food-preparation and cooking skills
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and accept coaching




- Willingness to contribute to every part of the kitchen, including dishes, cleaning, organization and closing
- Ability to stay organized and productive during busy events
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and late-night events when scheduled
- Ability to reliably commute to our Milton location

Banquet, catering, fine-dining, high-volume cooking and pizza-making experience are assets, but they are not required.

Position Details

- Permanent, part-time and year-round
- Approximately 15–25 hours per week
- Weekly schedules provided, with advance notice of upcoming events
- Event-driven schedule with varying shift times
- Additional hours may be available by assisting with general venue and event operations
- $19–$23 per hour, based on experience
- Starting as soon as possible

About Us Milton Banquet & Conference Centre is an established wedding, event and catering venue located on 36 acres in Milton. Our culinary team prepares a wide variety of menus for weddings, corporate functions, celebrations, public dining experiences and catered events.
