Our client, a non-profit located in the downtown core, is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join their team! Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timely processing of a semi-monthly payroll for 200+ employees. This role works closely with Finance and Human Resources to ensure compliance with legislation and internal policies while resolving payroll-related inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for salaried, contract, and hourly employees
- Maintain payroll records and employee changes (promotions, terminations, salary adjustments, etc.)
- Reconcile and remit statutory deductions in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) and respond to payroll inquiries
- Assist in completing year-end payroll procedures and reporting
- Maintain accurate payroll data within the HRIS
- Assist in the preparation of payroll reports, analyses, and variance reports
- Assist in ensuring accurate labour costing and allocation across cost centres
- Maintain payroll systems and support system upgrades as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree; PCP certification preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in payroll within a non-profit or health care workplace
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, employment standards, and CRA regulations
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (UltiPro considered an asset)
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Excellent communication skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
