The Payroll &

Benefits Coordinator plays an key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and receive the benefits and support they're entitled to. As part of the Payroll & HR Operations team, you'll be responsible for payroll processing, reconciliations, payroll reporting, benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with collective agreements, legislation, and organizational policies. In this role, you'll collaborate with employees, leaders, and internal partners to provide trusted payroll and benefits support in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail matters. Process and verify payroll information, correcting payroll errors following weekly timecard uploads and working with employees and managers to resolve discrepancies. Collect, review,



and upload weekly and amended timecards for payroll processing. Perform payroll-related analysis and reconciliations, including employee pay, vacation and sick leave balances, pension reconciliations, Group Life balancing, and regulatory reporting requirements. Complete financial coding, tracking, and payment processing related to payroll and regulatory obligations. Conduct research, identify solutions to payroll and benefits issues, and support continuous process improvement initiatives. Prepare regular and ad hoc payroll reports, analyze findings, and provide information to support operational, financial, and business needs. Ensure payroll and benefits activities are completed in accordance with applicable legislation, collective agreements, policies, and procedures.

National Payroll

Institute certification (PCP designation) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience processing payroll in a complex organizational environment. Knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, and year-end payroll processes.

Experience working within a unionized environment and interpreting collective agreement provisions that impact payroll and benefits administration.

Experience administering employee benefits, pension plans, and leave programs.





Experience using payroll and HRIS systems to process payroll transactions, maintain employee records, audit data, and perform reconciliations.

Experience performing payroll reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring financial and payroll data integrity. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, data validation, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting.

Experience maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring compliance with payroll policies, procedures, and legislative requirements. Ability to identify and assess issues, evaluate available options, and implement appropriate solutions in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and collective agreements.

Organizational: Ability to effectively prioritize and manage a high volume of work, adapt to interruptions and changing priorities, maintain accurate records, and efficiently retrieve information while consistently meeting competing deadlines.

Analytical: Ability to compile, reconcile, calculate, and analyze financial and payroll data, while applying legislation, regulations, policies, agreements, contracts, and procedures to payroll-related matters.
