Hours of work: 35 hours/week

What you will do in this role:

Reporting to the Manager, Development Services, the Planner provides the Development Services division with expertise to implement Regional requirements into local municipal planning applications through the review and comment on all forms of complex development, including:

- - Official Plan amendments
- Re-zonings
- Site plans
- Plans of subdivision and condominium
- Niagara Escarpment Development Permits and Plan amendments
- Parkway Belt amendments

- Work in collaboration with planners and other professionals from other Regional departments, area municipalities within and outside Peel Region and other review agencies
- Attend and participate in local and regional public meetings, area municipal planning initiatives and corporate initiatives
- Participate in a variety of special projects related to monitoring and improving processes, providing advice and service to Regional departments as a planning consultant on regional development submissions
- Conduct site inspections of development properties or areas
- Respond to inquiries from area municipalities and other public agencies, developers, consultants, lawyers and the general public to give advice on the planning process and approvals
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with staff from area municipalities, the Province and other review agencies, developers and consultants to represent Regional interests and mediate settlement of issues relating to development approvals
- Attend and participate in area municipal planning initiatives, and corporate initiatives
- Serve as expert witness at administrative tribunals such as the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT)
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

What the role requires:

- Honors degree in planning plus knowledge in the planning field such as environmental,



resources, urban or rural, and/or land use planning
- Eligibility for Full Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners
- Minimum of three years of related planning experience
- Knowledge of relevant industry legislation such as the Planning Act, Municipal Act and Provincial Plans

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of in office work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time. It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
