Location: Greater Vancouver, BC
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00 to $40.00, based on apprenticeship level and relevant experience
About the Position
Nextherm. is looking for a reliable and experienced Apprentice Plumber to join our team. This position focuses on hydronic heating work in occupied residential buildings and tenant-occupied suites.
The successful candidate must have previous experience working professionally and respectfully inside occupied units. Experience with hydronic radiators, system balancing is essential.
Responsibilities
- Install, replace and connect hydronic radiators
- Install hydronic heating supply and return piping
- Hands-on experience installing WT heat pump systems
- Install and insulate piping according to project specifications
- Assist with filling, flushing, purging and commissioning hydronic systems
- Balance hydronic heating systems and troubleshoot uneven heat or flow issues
- Install and service valves, circulators, fittings and related hydronic components
- Read drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Identify leaks, airlocks and other system performance issues
- Protect floors, walls, furniture and residents’ belongings while working
- Keep occupied suites and common areas clean, secure and organized
- Communicate respectfully with tenants, building managers and other trades
- Follow company procedures, the BC Plumbing Code and applicable safety requirements
- Perform other plumbing and hydronic duties as assigned by the supervising journeyperson
Required Qualifications
- Registered Apprentice Plumber with SkilledTradesBC
- Previous plumbing or hydronic heating experience
- Demonstrated experience working inside tenant-occupied residential units mandatory
- Hands-on experience installing hydronic radiators
- Working knowledge of hydronic system balancing
- Experience installing and insulating hydronic piping
- Ability to use plumbing tools and equipment safely
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending and working in confined areas
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to clean workmanship
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Second-, third- or fourth-year plumbing apprentice
- Experience with multi-unit residential or retrofit projects
- Experience with copper, PEX and steel hydronic piping
- Familiarity with pumps, zone valves, control valves and thermostatic radiator valves
- Current WHMIS, First Aid or other relevant safety training
- Own basic hand tools
