Pricing Coordinator
Action Force Transport is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Pricing Coordinator to join our Sales team.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in transportation, logistics, pricing, and carrier procurement. The successful candidate will support transportation pricing across our network, maintain customer rate information, and assist with the development of third-party carrier relationships for new lanes and services.
This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, comfortable working with numbers, highly organized, and confident communicating with both internal teams and external transportation partners.
The position will work closely with the Director of Sales, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and terminal teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Pricing & Rate Administration
- Manage and respond to transportation rate requests across Action Force Transport's network.
- Prepare pricing for domestic transportation, local cartage, drayage, LTL, FTL, intermodal, and other transportation services.
- Support the Sales team with accurate and timely pricing for existing customers and new business opportunities.
- Calculate customer rates using established transportation costs, carrier costs, fuel programs, accessorial charges, and company margin requirements.
- Enter and maintain approved rates within TruckMate/TMW, including special rates, awarded RFPs, and customer-specific pricing.
- Maintain accurate customer rate tariffs, rate matrices, and pricing bulletins.
- Assist with pricing analysis for RFQs, RFPs, contract opportunities, and special customer requests.
- Review rate calculations and system entries for accuracy prior to implementation.
- Maintain organized records of customer rates,
pricing agreements, carrier costs, and rate changes.
- Communicate approved pricing information to Sales, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and other relevant departments.
New Customer Pricing Setup
- Coordinate pricing setup for newly approved customers following completion of the onboarding and credit approval process.
- Enter approved customer rates, fuel programs, accessorial charges, and pricing instructions into TruckMate.
- Ensure customer pricing information is complete and accurate prior to freight movement.
- Work with Sales, Finance, Customer Service, and Operations to ensure a smooth transition from customer onboarding to active service.
Carrier Relations & Procurement
- Assist with sourcing third-party transportation providers for new lanes, markets, and services.
- Research market rates and transportation capacity for new business opportunities.
- Contact prospective carriers and request pricing for new lanes.
- Compare carrier rates, service capabilities, and transportation options.
- Assist with carrier rate negotiations under the direction of the Director of Sales.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with carriers, cartage providers, drayage companies, rail providers, and other transportation partners.
- Maintain an organized database of carrier contacts, rates, service areas, and capabilities.
- Prepare carrier-cost-to-customer-rate conversions using established company margin requirements.
- Support the development and maintenance of annual carrier rate agreements and transportation pricing matrices.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Transportation & Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, customer service, sales support, dispatch, brokerage, or a related environment is considered an asset.
- Previous transportation industry experience is an asset but is not required.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Robust attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and rate requests in a quick-paced environment.
- Comfortable communicating with customers, internal departments, and external transportation providers.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Willingness to learn transportation pricing, carrier procurement, and freight-market dynamics.
