Saturn has an chance for a 16-month Production Engineering Internship/Co-op Student based in our Calgary, Alberta office, beginning in May 2027. Reporting to the Manager, Production Engineering, the successful student will gain practical experience supporting production engineering activities across Saturn’s asset base, working alongside the engineering team, some key responsibilities may include:
- Reviewing producing and non-producing wells to assess performance, identify issues, and support recommendations for optimization, reactivation, cost and liability reduction opportunities.
- Compiling, validating, and analyzing production, operating, drilling,
facilities, cost, and completion data to support asset performance reviews and business decisions.
- Assisting with production optimization initiatives, including trend analysis, downtime reviews, artificial lift performance, operating cost evaluations, and opportunity screening.
- Supporting the preparation of technical evaluations, project lookbacks, engineering summaries, regulatory compliance reviews, and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
- Developing, maintaining, and improving engineering reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to help the team monitor production performance and prioritize work.
- Wellbore and pipeline modeling
- Collaborating with Operations, Exploitation Engineering, Production Accounting, Marketing, and other technical groups to gather information, resolve data questions, and support practical field-focused solutions.
- Participating in team meetings and project discussions, contributing observations, analysis, and follow-up support as appropriate.
- Providing additional engineering, data, and project support as required throughout the work term.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Civil, or related discipline, and eligible to participate in a co-op or internship work term.
- Able to commit to the full 16-month term beginning in May 2027.
- Available to work from Saturn’s Calgary office for the duration of the term; relocation to Calgary may be required.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data, including Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or other reporting and visualization tools would be considered an asset.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize technical information clearly and ask thoughtful questions.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Collaborative, curious, and committed to working safely, responsibly, and professionally in a team environment.
