Olympic Construction is seeking a motivated Project Coordinator to join our growing project team.
This is a hands-on construction role with exposure to both the field and project management sides of the business. Working closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent, the successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day coordination, documentation and execution of major construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning and turnover.
We are looking for someone who is organized, technically capable, comfortable on a construction site, and eager to develop into a future construction leader.
Key Responsibilities
As Project Coordinator, responsibilities will include:
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project coordination and execution.
- Coordinate RFIs, shop drawings, submittals and project documentation using Procore.
- Assist with project schedules, short-term planning, progress tracking and reporting.
- Coordinate with owners, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Support procurement and material coordination, including OCL's self-performed work.
- Assist with QA/QC inspections, documentation and deficiency management.
- Review drawings and specifications and help identify constructability issues, conflicts and discrepancies before they impact field operations.
- Assist with quantity take-offs, field measurements and progress verification.
- Support project cost tracking, change management and subcontractor coordination.
- Assist field personnel with drawing interpretation and technical coordination.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain clear records of decisions and action items.
- Support project closeout, commissioning and turnover documentation.
- Work collaboratively with OCL's project management, field and safety teams to maintain high standards for safety, quality, schedule and productivity.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or diploma in Civil/Architectural Engineering Technology, or a related construction discipline.
- Construction experience in the commercial, institutional, industrial or multi-residential sectors is preferred.
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- A practical, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction technology.
Experience considered an asset
- Construction surveying, layout and/or total station experience.
- Procore or other construction management software.
- AutoCAD and the Autodesk suite of products.
- Building Information Modelling (BIM) and model-based coordination.
- MS Project or other scheduling software.
- Previous field experience with a General Contractor.
- Concrete, formwork or other self-performed construction experience.
