Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Protection Technician role based in London, ON. The protection technician will install, inspect, maintain, and repair protection systems such as alarms, access control, surveillance equipment, and related hardware. Daily tasks include performing site assessments, troubleshooting technical issues, testing system functionality, and documenting work performed.
The role involves communicating with clients to explain findings, recommend improvements, and provide basic user training on installed systems. The technician is expected to follow safety standards, keep tools and equipment in good working order, and manage scheduling, materials, and service records as a self-employed professional.
Qualifications
- Strong technical aptitude with experience installing, testing, and maintaining protection or security systems (e.g., alarms, CCTV, access control).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals; solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, electrical best practices, and relevant codes or standards applicable to protection systems.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to clients.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, service records, and basic self-employment administration.
- Comfort working on-site in varied environments, including residential and commercial properties, sometimes in confined or elevated spaces.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in electrical, electronics, or security systems is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to client locations in and around London, ON.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools as needed, and to follow all occupational health and safety requirements.
