Part-time Independent Contractor

Estimated compensation: Mind 2 Heart is seeking an experienced Psychologist or Psychological Associate to help establish and lead our new child and adolescent psychological assessment service.

This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor opportunity for an autonomous clinician who would like the professional independence of private practice while benefiting from an established clinic, strong referral base, administrative support and thoughtfully designed clinical space.

About Mind 2 Heart

Mind 2 Heart is a growing, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming mental health clinic serving children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in Barrie and surrounding communities.

Our multidisciplinary team provides psychotherapy, neurofeedback and specialized mental wellness day and after-hours programs for neurodivergent children and youth. We are now expanding our continuum of care to include psychological and psychoeducational assessment services.

The Opportunity The Assessment Lead will initially conduct assessments independently while helping Mind 2 Heart establish high-quality assessment processes and referral pathways.

As demand grows, there may be an opportunity to develop a supported assessment model involving psychometrist assistance. We are looking for someone interested in both clinical assessment work and the opportunity to shape a meaningful new service.

Depending on the clinician’s authorized areas and demonstrated competencies, assessments may include:

- Comprehensive psychoeducational assessments
- ADHD assessments
- Autism assessments
- Learning-disability assessments
- Intellectual and adaptive-functioning assessments
- Gifted assessments
- Mental-health and social-emotional assessments
- Differential diagnosis involving learning, neurodevelopmental, emotional, behavioural and trauma-related presentations

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for children and adolescents
- Complete clinical interviews and determine appropriate assessment plans
- Select, administer, score and interpret standardized measures
- Integrate information from children, caregivers, schools and other professionals
- Formulate and communicate diagnoses within authorized areas and competencies
- Prepare clear, comprehensive and practical reports




- Provide collaborative feedback to children, adolescents and caregivers
- Develop meaningful recommendations for home, school and community
- Maintain records in accordance with CPBAO standards and privacy legislation
- Collaborate with Mind 2 Heart’s therapists and mental wellness program teams when appropriate
- Provide clinical guidance as Mind 2 Heart develops its assessment procedures and service model

Required Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in Clinical, School or Counselling Psychology
- Current registration for autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
- CPBAO authorization to work with children and adolescents
- Authorization in School Psychology and/or Clinical Psychology
- Demonstrated competence in psychological or psychoeducational assessment
- Strong diagnostic-formulation and report-writing abilities
- Knowledge of child development, learning, mental health and neurodevelopmental presentations
- Commitment to trauma-informed, strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming practice
- Professional liability insurance
- Current vulnerable-sector screening

Preferred Experience
- Assessment and diagnosis of ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, anxiety and mood disorders
- Working with neurodivergent children and youth
- Supporting children with school avoidance or complex mental-health needs
- Collaborating with schools and multidisciplinary teams
- Developing assessment programs, workflows or clinical resources
- Supervising or working collaboratively with psychometrists

Compensation Compensation will be based on a percentage of collected assessment revenue, anticipated to be approximately 50-60% to the clinician when Mind 2 Heart provides referrals, space, administration, billing and agreed-upon assessment resources.

Limited program-development and consultation time may be compensated separately at an agreed hourly rate when requested and approved in advance by Mind 2 Heart.

Final compensation will reflect the clinician’s experience, assessment competencies, role in service development and responsibility for for testing materials.
