ABOUT ENVISION MIND CARE

Envision Mind Care is an independent mental health and addictions clinic and research institute in Edmonton. We are Alberta's first clinic licensed for Psychedelic Drug Treatment Services, and one of a small number licensed for both that and Residential Addiction Treatment Services. Our patients include first responders, veterans, and people living with treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, and chronic pain linked to mental health.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Envision Mind Care is looking for a Registered Nurse to take a senior role in our ketamine and infusion services. You will deliver treatment days, support and guide the nursing team, and help a newer service settle into a consistent standard of practice.

A role with two phases. Our IV services are young. Early on, a good part of the work is establishing and improving practice so the service meets its compliance obligations, and putting into consistent use the procedures and clinical direction set by management and the Medical Director. Once the service is established, the day to day becomes what you would expect of a senior nurse: patient care, supporting the team, and the routine administrative work that keeps a treatment service running well.

This is not a conventional nursing post. Alongside direct patient care, you will have a real hand in how a new service takes shape, and the opportunity to lead and strengthen infrastructure that is already in place. For a nurse who wants more than a treatment-room role, the experience is unusual.

Your primary work sits in the ketamine department. Assignment to other programmes may occur as clinic needs require, which brings exposure to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with psilocybin and MDMA, residential and outpatient addiction services, IV nutritional therapy, and TMS.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

- Deliver ketamine and infusion treatment days, including readiness checks, preparation and administration of ketamine and related medications, patient monitoring throughout,

and response to adverse reactions.
- Confirm patients meet discharge criteria and have safe transport and aftercare in place.
- Maintain medication and controlled substance records, counts and secure storage.
- Put into practice the protocols, workflows and clinical direction set by management and the Medical Director, and support the team in applying them consistently.
- Review current nursing practice and make recommendations for improvement, working collaboratively with management.
- Help establish or refresh policies and procedures so they align with CRNA, CPSA and provincial licensing requirements, particularly while IV services are being established.
- Provide clinical oversight of licensed practical nurses, health care aides and medical office assistants, assigning and delegating within their scopes.
- Orient, precept and mentor nursing staff, and support in-service education and protocol review.
- Carry the routine administrative work of a treatment service, including documentation, scheduling coordination, supply readiness, incident reporting and audit support.
- Provide nursing care in our other programmes as assigned, including support for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy sessions with psilocybin and MDMA where needed and where you are trained to do so.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Active practice permit as a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, in good standing, with current skilled liability protection.
- Current Basic Life Support certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required for this role, and must be held or obtained within a set period after hire.

- Demonstrated competency in peripheral IV initiation, infusion management and intramuscular administration.
- Experience in mental health, addictions, emergency or another acute clinical setting.
- Experience supervising, precepting or mentoring nursing staff, or readiness to take that on with support.
- Comfort working in a service that is still being established, and willingness to review practice, put forward recommendations, and implement what management puts in place.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- Ketamine or psychedelic-assisted treatment experience is an asset. Training and a supervised ramp-up are provided where a candidate does not have it.

SCREENING A satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is required. Equivalent current screening already held through a regulatory body, college, employer or hospital may be accepted.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Daytime hours in a scheduled outpatient setting, with patients booked in advance and known to the team.
- A multidisciplinary team including psychiatry, emergency medicine, psychology, addictions counselling, dietetics and kinesiology.
- Orientation and training in ketamine and psychedelic-assisted treatment, with a supervised ramp-up.
- Support toward ACLS certification where it is not already held.
- Exposure across the clinic's programmes, with your primary work in the ketamine department.
- Group health and dental benefits.
- Fully equipped clinical treatment suites and in office gym access.
- A genuine hand in how a new service is built.
