Representative Meter VerificationPublic Works –Operations SupportStatus: 1 Regular Full-Time positionHiring Range: $62,902 to $70,765 per annum plus comprehensive benefits Location and work mode: Onsite at 2 Copper Road, Brampton

Hours of work: 35 hours per week; occasional afterhours required based on seasonal operational demands.

The Role:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Meter Reading you will provide a field service in determining reasons for reported irregularities on meter readings. You will assist clients, both residential and commercial, with the emphasis on residential, with billing concerns and provide direct customer service with site visits and report their findings back to the office staff with thorough documentation via Action Memo’s and High Bill Checklists

What you will do in the role:

- Verify integrity of meters when on a home visit by doing a flush test. This determines if the register is metering the correct amount of water on a low flush test and provides the opportunity to educate the customer on how the meter works and how to use the flow indicator to determine if there is water flowing through the meter
- Determine reason for reported irregularities of meter readings which fail edit check list.
- Contact customers to set up home visits
- To make direct site visits with customers to assist them with billing concerns and provide advice on home plumbing
- To check unsealed meters and by-passes including monthly compound metered accounts and provides suitable report to Meter Operations so that appropriate action can be taken
- To maintain proper care and operation of a Regional vehicle
- To maintain a valid and positive standing Class G license
- Liaison with internal staff to maximize work efficiencies
- Respond to non-routine requests for information about plumbing or customer complaints or conduct further research and study with other internal contacts such as Meter Operations to resolve customer concern.
- May schedule, organize activities with other internal contacts such as Meter Operations or Water Smart Peel to fully service a customer’s needs
- Provide information or advice within the guidelines of an established by-law. Use technical or professional skills to work together with others such as Meter Ops or Water Smart Peel to investigate problems and explore alternative solutions to attain specific goals
- Work is based on practices or well-established precedents.
- Use judgment to solve problems using known methods or practices




- Provide answers to Supervisor or Manager for Councillors inquiries on behalf of customers

What the role requires:

- Completion of High School Diploma with general knowledge of practices and procedures within the specifics of plumbing-in-home and commercial properties
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
- Developed communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to study, analyze, and synthesize information to identify trends or recommendations to deliver final analysis
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experienced with the Billing System (CCBCS) combined with data entry skills
- Computer proficient in MS Office
- Effective customer service skills with polished interpersonal skills
- Superior time management skills with ability to prioritize based on importance and impact
- Organized, motivated, and possess strong problem-solving skills
