Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 321-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of Research and Academics Operations is currently seeking a Full-Time Research Coordinator. The purpose of the position is to provide coordination and operational support for a range of research activities within the Waypoint Research Institute. While the specific requirements of each project will vary, the position may at different times involve supporting research projects from initiation through to close-out, coordinating high-quality funding applications, clinical trials, patient and community engagement, and assisting in the development and implementation of research initiatives.
Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church Street, Penetanguishene, ON.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide operational and administrative support for research projects including project start-up, coordination of research agreements, project tracking, reporting and close-out, and coordination/follow-upup on timelines and deliverables.
- Provide project management,
coordination and support for a variety of research studies and funding proposals, including budget development, tracking and monitoring of project expenditures.
- Support the coordination and implementation of clinical trials, including study start-up, recruitment, participant coordination, study activities, monitoring and close-out, as applicable.
- Identify potential funding sources, develop and maintain a database of local, national and international granting agencies, charitable foundations, companies and donors where Waypoint is eligible to apply.
- Coordinate internal review processes for grant proposals and research projects within the Waypoint Research Institute.
- Build relationships with other organizations/institutions and external researchers to identify collaborative funding opportunities; liaises with community partners, government agencies and funding agencies to market Waypoint locally, nationally and internationally as a world-class research organization.
- Support patient, family, and community engagement in research, including the coordination of engagement activities and initiatives that promote meaningful involvement throughout the research process.
- Contribute to various corporate performance indicators for the Waypoint Research Institute and support the preparation of internal reports, documents and written material.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in a Health or Social Science or related field is required.
- Direct involvement in the research process and/or experience coordinating clinical research is required.
- Clinical trial processes, including applicable regulatory, ethical and institutional requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating research is required.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting grant applications is required.
- Previous experience working within the healthcare/academic sector an in the area of mental health is preferred.
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
- Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage effectively and respectfully with patients, families, research participants and other partners in support of research activities and initiatives.
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation)
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills.
