Position Overview

Carney Hill Childcare Programs are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where all children are supported in their unique needs and abilities.

The School Age Childcare Worker is responsible for supporting the daily care, supervision, and development of children in a positive, nurturing, and play-based learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome and acknowledge children and families upon arrival and departure
- Follow each child’s individual schedule and support their daily routines
- Plan and implement engaging activities and field trips that support learning and exploration
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care
- Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff and families
- Complete daily documentation and required reporting
- Prepare snacks and meals as needed
- Support children in maintaining good hygiene practices
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, including: Laundry (clothing, blankets, towels); Sanitizing toys, equipment, and furniture
- Maintain records in accordance with Child Care Licensing requirements

Qualifications Must be at least 19 years of age, be in possession of a Responsible Adult Training Certificate, childsafe first aid and food secure.

- Successful completion of a criminal record check prior to employment
- Availability to work Monday to Friday:
- Approximately 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM during the school year
- Full-day shifts (7.5 hours) during school closures, non-instructional days, Spring Break, Winter Break, and Summer Break
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to a positive and supportive learning environment
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong problem-solving and ethical decision-making abilities
- Caring, empathetic, and inclusive approach to working with children and families

Accountability This position is responsible for providing childcare under the supervision of the Child Care Program Manager.

Location, Hours, and Compensation

- Location: 2579 Victoria Street, Carney Hill Daycare Centre
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, with split between part-day school year hours and full-day shifts during school closures
- Start Date: June 15, 2026
- Wage: Starting at $18.75 per hour, based on training and experience
