Job Title: Scrum Master

Client: Government of Alberta – Digital Design & Delivery (DDD)

Location: Remote within Canada; up to 15% onsite in Edmonton, Alberta

Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–4:30 PM Alberta Time

Contract: Full time contract, with potential 6-month extension

Start: As per project requirements

Role Summary The Government of Alberta is seeking 10 Scrum Masters to support digital transformation, service innovation, modernization, and program review initiatives.

The Scrum

Master will work across multiple cross-functional teams, partnering with Product Owners, developers, designers, and stakeholders to enable effective Agile delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coach cross-functional teams on Scrum/Agile methodologies.

- Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews/demos, and retrospectives.

- Remove impediments, manage dependencies, and support teams in achieving sprint goals.

- Coach Product Owners on backlog management, prioritization, release planning, and roadmaps.

- Track and report Agile metrics including velocity, burndown, backlog health, risks, and delivery progress.

- Promote team accountability, self-organization, transparency, and continuous improvement.

- Use Generative AI and agentic tools for meeting synthesis, documentation, backlog analysis, reporting, communication, and delivery support.

- Apply prompt design, RAG, and AI-output evaluation for accuracy, privacy, security, hallucination, and suitability.

- Identify and implement process automation using workflows, digital forms, structured intake, automated reporting,



and agentic orchestration.

- Work with UX, service design, user research, usability testing, and human-centered design teams.

- Translate technical and automation changes into clear communication for business and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements
- Active Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification – required.

- 2+ years coaching teams on Agile methodologies.

- 3+ years facilitating Agile ceremonies.

- 3+ years working in an Agile software development environment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- 5+ years delivering training through Microsoft Teams or similar platforms.

- 1+ year coaching Agile teams on accountability, self-organization, and AI adoption.

- 4+ years with CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, and observability.

- 1+ year hands-on use of AI tools for Scrum Master responsibilities.

- 5+ years sprint/backlog planning aligned with Product Owner priorities.

- 6+ years in software development processes, standards, tools, and best practices.

- 4+ years North American public-sector experience.

- 2+ years working with UX, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design.

Work & Security Requirements
- Resource must work from within Canada due to network and data-security requirements.

- Remote work is expected, with occasional onsite attendance in Edmonton, up to 15%.

- Criminal record and credit checks may be required.

- Government security/privacy and FOIP training will be mandatory.

- Candidate should have equipment compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD); Windows is preferred.
