Position Title : GOAPRDJP00001017 - Senior IT Project Manager
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Remote)
Mode: Contract

Position Overview A Successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex IT projects from initiation through completion. The role will focus on statutory and regulatory compliance, cybersecurity modernization, legacy platform transformation, application modernization, physical commodity tracking, financial systems integration, and multi-system technology enhancements.
The Project Manager will work closely with business and IT leadership, project sponsors, vendors, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered within approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead IT projects from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery against approved scope, timelines, resources, and objectives.
- Develop project charters, business cases, project plans, schedules, and related project documentation.
- Define project scope, objectives, assumptions, dependencies, risks, perks, resource requirements, and budgets in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
- Manage projects involving business requirements definition, solution design, application development, system integration, testing, deployment, and modernization.
- Ensure IT solutions align with applicable enterprise architecture standards and organizational requirements.
- Manage multiple projects and project resources concurrently within a complex IT environment.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, work plans, milestones, and delivery strategies.
- Monitor project progress and take corrective action where required to maintain schedule and delivery commitments.
- Develop, track, and manage project budgets, including forecast versus actual expenditures and financial variances.
- Identify, assess, document, and manage project risks, issues, impacts, dependencies, and interdependencies.
- Facilitate risk and impact assessments and provide recommendations based on assessment outcomes.
- Establish effective project governance structures, roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards, briefing materials, risk logs, and other deliverables for senior management and steering committees.
- Lead and facilitate meetings with stakeholders across business, IT, leadership, vendors, and project teams.
- Maintain effective relationships with project sponsors, clients, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Provide timely escalation of significant risks, issues, dependencies, and project concerns.
- Support change management and communication activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed, reviewed, approved, and appropriately transitioned to operational teams.
- Evaluate project outcomes against approved objectives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure project activities comply with established Project Management Office (PMO) standards and assist in developing new standards where required.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Business, Management, or a related discipline and four years of Project Management experience; OR
- Two-year diploma in Business, Management, or a related discipline and six years of Project Management experience; OR
- One-year certificate in Business, Management, or a related discipline and seven years of Project Management experience; OR
- Eight years of Project Management experience.
Required Professional Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Project Manager working with ADX Studio and CRM Dynamics to Power Apps/Power Pages and Dataverse migrations.
- Minimum 8 years of experience defining project scope and objectives in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Minimum 8 years of experience developing project deliverables such as project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs, project closure documentation, and dashboards.
- Minimum 8 years of experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Project Manager on large, complex, custom software application development projects, particularly within an environment comparable in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience conducting, facilitating, and interpreting impact and risk assessments across multiple scenarios.
- Minimum 3 years of experience creating and managing project forecasts and actual budgets.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in or with the public sector.
- Minimum 3 years of experience delivering mandated or legislated projects.
