Shift Leader: Borough Bar in the University District

Full-Time | Calgary, AB

Borough Bar is looking for a confident, hands-on Shift Leader to join our leadership team. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced server or bartender who is ready to take the next step into restaurant leadership while remaining actively involved on the floor.

The Role

Our Shift Leaders help set the standard for each service. You’ll work alongside the management team to keep shifts organized, support the FOH team, maintain service standards, and make sure our guests receive the experience Borough is known for.

This is not a clipboard-and-corner position. We’re looking for someone who leads from the floor, notices what needs to happen, and jumps in.

What You’ll Do

- Lead and support the FOH team during service
- Help conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily features, reservations and priorities
- Maintain Borough’s service and hospitality standards
- Support servers, bartenders and hosts during high-volume periods
- Monitor guest experience and assist with service recovery
- Coordinate with the kitchen, expo and bar to maintain smooth service
- Ensure food and beverages are being run promptly
- Reinforce our “no table belongs to one server” philosophy
- Assist with opening and closing responsibilities
- Monitor cleanliness, organization and restaurant readiness
- Help train and coach new team members
- Communicate operational issues to management
- Lead by example with professionalism, urgency and accountability





What We’re Looking For You’re someone who naturally notices what is happening around you. You don’t walk past a problem because it “isn’t your section.”

Previous restaurant experience is required, ideally in a busy full-service environment. Leadership experience is an asset, but we’re also interested in strong servers and bartenders who demonstrate leadership potential.

You should be comfortable making decisions, communicating clearly, coaching peers and staying composed when service gets busy.

Valid ProServe certification is required.

Compensation

$19.00/hour + gratuities

Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, is required.
