The Senior IT Maintenance Technician provides senior technical support and leads hands-on IT deployment, mobilization, and demobilization activities at Civeo sites. The role supports end-user technology and site infrastructure, coordinates project logistics, and works with global IT teams, Operations, and vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and supportable technology services.
The position is structured approximately 50% as office-based support at the Edmonton office, providing general IT support, and 50% as travel-based field and project support to Civeo offices, lodges, and project sites. The actual allocation may vary from week to week based on operational and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 to Level 3 support for incidents, requests, and escalations involving end-user devices, software, printers, mobile devices, and meeting-room technology.
- Plan and complete site deployments and demobilizations, including site assessments, staging, scheduling, logistics, installation, testing, handover, asset recovery, and closeout.
- Support the installation and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN, wireless, telecommunications, CATV, card access, servers, cabling, and related field equipment.
- Administer supported Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Intune users, devices, access, and permissions.
- Manage equipment receiving,
secure storage, asset tagging, inventory updates, transportation, deployment, recovery, sanitization, and redeployment or disposal coordination.
- Work with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Business Applications, Service Desk, Operations, project teams, and vendors to implement approved solutions.
- Maintain accurate ServiceNow records, technical diagrams, asset information, work notes, knowledge articles, test results, and handover documentation.
- Identify and escalate risks, service impacts, safety issues, and scope changes; provide concise progress and completion reporting.
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday support when required for projects, cutovers, outages, or critical incidents.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in information technology, networking, telecommunications, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in technical support, infrastructure, deployment, or field services.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Windows endpoints, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, networking, wireless, and telecommunications.
- Experience with ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM platform, including incident, request, change, asset, and knowledge processes.
- Experience in multi-site, remote,
industrial, hospitality, camp, or lodge environments is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to meet company driving and site-access requirements.
- Cisco networking; Avaya or Mitel telephony; access control; CATV; structured cabling; virtual servers; network testing and packet analysis knowledge is preferred.
- Microsoft role-based certification or ITIL Foundation is an asset.
