Camp Counselor — Summer 2027

SouthBound Summers is recruiting Canadian university and college students to work as Camp Counselors at Timber Lake Camp, a premier overnight summer camp in New York State.

Dates: June 19, 2027 – August 15, 2027

Pay: $4,150–$4,950 CAD

Camp Counselors are at the heart of the Timber Lake experience. You’ll live in a cabin with campers, serve as a mentor and role model, participate in activities, and help create an exciting, supportive, and memorable summer.

This is an active, hands-on role. Counselors spend their days participating in sports, swimming, outdoor activities, games, special events, and other camp programs while helping campers build confidence, friendships, and independence.

Responsibilities

- Live in a cabin with campers and help supervise their daily routines.
- Build strong, positive relationships with campers and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Participate enthusiastically in sports, games, swimming, outdoor activities, and camp-wide events.
- Encourage campers to try recent activities, develop skills, and become more confident.
- Help create a fun, inclusive, and supportive cabin environment.
- Support the safety and well-being of campers throughout the day and overnight.




- Work closely with other counselors, activity specialists, and camp leadership.
- Bring energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a positive attitude to camp every day.

Who We're Looking For We're looking for energetic, responsible, and outgoing students who genuinely enjoy working with children and being part of an active community.

Experience in sports, coaching, teaching, childcare, recreation, or leadership is an asset, but previous summer camp experience is not required.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to students studying education, physical education, kinesiology, sport management, recreation, childcare, child and youth studies, outdoor education, or related fields.

Most importantly, we're looking for people who are ready to get involved, work hard, meet new people, and help give campers an incredible summer.

SouthBound Summers will support candidates throughout the recruitment and interview process. Successful applicants will be employed by Timber Lake Camp.

Pay: $2,050.00-$2,350.00 per month
