About the Role

Civicon is seeking an experienced Superintendent to provide field leadership and oversee the successful execution of major transit and heavy-civil infrastructure projects.

The Superintendent will be responsible for daily construction operations, field planning, workforce coordination, subcontractor management, productivity, quality, schedule performance, and compliance with project requirements.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering TTC and/or Metrolinx projects and the ability to lead field teams in a demanding construction environment.

Duties and Responsibilities The Superintendent’s duties include, but are not limited to:

- Lead and coordinate daily construction activities at assigned project sites.
- Develop short-term work plans and coordinate labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and site access requirements.
- Ensure construction activities are completed according to drawings, specifications, approved procedures, project schedules, and client requirements.
- Coordinate forepersons, subcontractors, trades,



suppliers, inspectors, and other field personnel.
- Monitor field productivity, project progress, labour requirements, equipment use, and material availability.
- Identify potential delays, constraints, constructability concerns, and field conflicts before they affect the project schedule.
- Work with the Project Manager and Scheduler to develop look-ahead schedules and recovery plans.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor workmanship and compliance with quality requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, work plans, method statements, and scopes of work before construction begins.
- Ensure deficiencies, non-conformances, and field issues are documented and corrected promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, labour records, equipment records, progress updates, photographs, and other site documentation.
- Participate in project meetings, coordination meetings, schedule reviews, and subcontractor meetings.
- Communicate project progress, risks, incidents, delays, and resource concerns to the Project Manager.
- Support project inspections, testing, commissioning, closeout, and turnover activities.

Qualifications





- Minimum of eight years of construction experience, including progressively responsible field-leadership experience.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Superintendent or in a comparable field-leadership position.
- Direct experience working on TTC and/or Metrolinx projects is required.
- Experience managing heavy-civil, transit, infrastructure, sewer and watermain, structural concrete, or similar construction activities.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, drawings, specifications, schedules, quality requirements, and field documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, equipment, and site personnel.
- Experience working in high-traffic, operational, public-transit, or restricted-access environments is considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation.
