About the Role
You'll take ownership of personal and corporate tax preparation, provide year-round tax planning guidance, support light bookkeeping work, and be a friendly, trusted point of contact for our clients.This is a great fit for someone who enjoys both the technical side of tax work and building real relationships with the people they serve.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file personal (T1) and corporate (T2) tax returns
- Provide year-round tax planning guidance to corporate and personal tax clients
- Assist with GST/HST filings and CRA correspondence as needed
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Communicate directly with clients — explaining tax matters clearly, answering questions, and building lasting relationships
- Perform account reconciliations regularly to verify the consistency and correctness of financial data across multiple accounts.
- Support budgeting activities by compiling data, monitoring expenses, and providing insights for financial planning.
- Handle payroll processing tasks accurately using payroll systems while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and company policies.
- Contribute to investment analysis by reviewing financial data to support decision-making processes within the organization.
Experience
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in personal and corporate tax preparation
- Working knowledge of Canadian tax law and CRA compliance requirements
- Proven experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
- Prior experience in auditing or financial services is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes, account reconciliation techniques, and bookkeeping best practices.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and budgeting procedures to support comprehensive financial management.
- Demonstrated understanding of investment principles and related financial documentation is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with robust organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- CPA designation or progress toward one is a plus, but not required
