Role Description The Underground Blaster is a full-time, in office role based in Timmins, ON, responsible for safely executing underground blasting activities in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and loading blast holes with explosives, setting up and inspecting initiation systems, and conducting pre-blast safety checks. The role involves interpreting blast plans, collaborating with mine supervisors and operators to schedule blasts, and monitoring blast results to optimize performance.

The Underground

Blaster will complete accurate blast and usage records, maintain equipment and explosives storage areas,



and participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

- Practical underground blasting experience, including loading, tying-in, and firing blasts in an underground mining environment.
- Knowledge of explosives types, initiation systems, and safe handling, storage, and transportation of explosives and accessories.
- Familiarity with mining operations, blast design principles, and interpreting technical instructions or blast plans.
- Strong commitment to safety, understanding of relevant legislation and regulations, and adherence to mine and company safety procedures.
- Ability to use basic measuring tools and equipment, and to complete clear, accurate blast reports and inventory records.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with mine personnel, supervisors, and technical teams.
- Ability to work in physically demanding underground conditions, including lifting, walking on uneven surfaces, and working shifts.
- Valid blasting certification or license as required by provincial regulations (Ontario) and a clean safety record.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in mining, blasting, or explosives is an advantage.
- Previous experience with emulsion products, bulk explosives systems, and electronic initiation systems is beneficial.
