About KonjDenj
KonjDenj is a Toronto creative production studio. We produce video, branded social content, event coverage and photography for clients across hospitality, fitness, real estate, and arts and culture.
About the role
We are adding a senior editor to our freelance roster. This position is fully remote.
You would take projects from rushes to final delivery: event recaps and highlight cuts, brand films, and the social versions that come off both. Work is assigned project by project, with as much notice as we have.
We are hiring for judgment. You receive a brief, a footage folder and a deadline, and you return a finished piece. The structure, the pace and the shape of the edit are yours.
What you would be doing
- Editing event recaps and highlight pieces from multi-camera footage
- Editing brand films and promos to a script or treatment
- Building vertical versions of every horizontal cut, reframed rather than cropped
- Selecting licensed music and flagging anything that needs a different licence before delivery
- A base colour and sound pass on every deliverable
- Titling, lower thirds and light motion work within an existing brand look
- Turning around client revision rounds cleanly
- Delivering the project file and source media, organised, at the close of every project
Must have Every item below is required. Applications missing any of them will not move forward.
- A portfolio or reel. Required. We need to see finished work before anything else
- Five years or more of professional editing experience. Paid client work, not personal projects
- Event recaps in the portfolio. Recaps,
highlights or speaker cuts from real events you edited
- Social media work in the portfolio. Vertical edits built for Instagram, TikTok or Shorts, published and live
- DaVinci Resolve. Working professionally, including a colour pass
- Premiere Pro. Working professionally, at the same standard as Resolve. Both are required, not one and a familiarity with the other
- Cloud workflow. The whole job runs on cloud storage and cloud review. You pull media from a shared drive, you work from proxies when the files are large, you push cuts back for review online, and you keep your local and cloud copies in sync without being reminded. If your process depends on a hard drive being handed to you, this will not work
- AI in your workflow. Required. You already use AI in your edit and you have a view on where it earns its place and where it gets in the way. Transcription, rough assembly, search across rushes, colour and sound clean-up, generative fill, whatever you have found works. We use Claude across the studio, so you either work with it already or you are ready to
- Organisation. Labelled tracks, named bins, consistent file naming, and a project file another editor can open and understand
- Creative thinking.
You can take unscripted footage with no clear story in it and find the structure that holds. You make decisions about pace, music and shape without being told what they should be
- Communication. This is a remote position and it is the requirement we are strictest on. You reply to messages the same business day, you ask your questions before you start rather than halfway through, and you tell us where a project stands without being asked. Written English needs to be explicit and correct, and you are comfortable on a call when a brief needs talking through
- Reliability on deadlines. You deliver on the date agreed, and you raise a risk early rather than late
Bonus points
- Commercial and brand work in the portfolio
- Colour grading beyond a base pass
- Motion graphics and titling
- CapCut or Final Cut
- Food, interiors or product work
- Farsi
