Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Logistics and Inventory Coordinator to oversee and optimize the supply chain, warehousing, and inventory operations across a group of six fabrication companies located in Ontario. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of materials, minimizing downtime, reducing costs, and maintaining accurate inventory levels across all facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Logistics Management:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments across multiple locations.
- Manage third-party logistics (3PL) providers, couriers, and freight carriers to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor transportation costs and negotiate contracts with vendors.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve efficiency and service levels.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory control processes across all sites, including receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking materials and finished goods.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production without overstocking.
- Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Utilize inventory management systems (ERP/MRP) to analyze trends and generate reports.
Cross-Company Coordination:
- Work closely with plant managers, procurement, production,
and sales teams at each company to align logistics and inventory operations with business objectives.
- Standardize inventory and logistics processes across the group where applicable.
- Ensure consistency in reporting and metrics across all facilities.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation, import/export, and environmental regulations.
- Enforce health and safety policies within warehouses and during the movement of goods.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve inventory control procedures and supply chain workflows.
- Identify opportunities for automation and digitization in logistics and inventory practices.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or inventory management in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between facilities across Ontario as needed.
- Experience managing logistics across multiple sites or companies (asset).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles (asset).
- Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, SCMP) is an asset.
