Intent to hire for a current upcoming program on Red Pheasant Cree Nation. The Nation is seeking a qualified candidate for the upcoming Community Safety Officer program. Full training is offered by the Nation.
Training The qualified candidate will be sent for the CSO Induction Course, held over eight weeks at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert campus. The candidate must be able to attend this fall for the full eight weeks, and will need a high level of fitness in order to complete the SOPAT during the training.
Criteria to apply The candidate must be able to provide documentation of the following before enrolling in the course.
Grade 12 school transcripts or equivalent
Class 5 Driver’s License, as an experienced driver, along with a driver’s abstract
Must be 18 years of age or older
Minimum two character references
Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
Must have no outstanding criminal charges and not be subject of a criminal investigation
The role On completion of the CSO Induction Course, and with authorization of the Ministry under the Police Act, the Community Safety Officer will deliver high priority, low risk to harm community services and provide a uniformed presence within Red Pheasant Cree Nation. They will liaise with departments and entities within the Nation, and with the local RCMP and Saskatchewan Marshals, to provide support through information gathering and sharing.
The Community Safety Officer will enforce provincial statutes and First Nation laws, including but not limited to traffic, alcohol and gaming, and community specific bylaws, pursuant to their Special Constable authorities.
