Junior ECE Coordinator Classification: Full-time, Term (one year)

Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Location: Williams Lake, BC

Deadline: Open until filled

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government is based in Williams Lake, British Columbia serving six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tl'etinqox, Tl'esqox, Tŝideldel, Xeni Gwet'in, and Yuneŝit'in. The Tŝilhqot’in National Government’s mission is to support and empower Tŝilhqot’in peoples to exercise their rights to self-determination within their traditional territories in ways which reflect Tŝilhqot’in philosophy, values, experience and culture.

The Junior Early Childhood Coordinator supports TNG Education and the Senior ECE Coordinator in strengthening early learning and child care services across the Tsilhqot’in Nation. The position works collaboratively with community ECE programs, Aboriginal Head Start programs, families, and partners to support culturally grounded, high-quality early learning opportunities for Tsilhqot’in children.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Senior ECE Coordinator with implementation of TNG Early learning initiatives

Build positive working relationships with ECE and Head Start staff in Tsilhqot’in communities

Assist with community visits and identification of early learning needs, priorities, and resources

Help coordinate ECE meetings, career development, training, and gatherings





Support collection and updating of community ELCC program information and demographics

Assist with reports, workplans, meeting notes, correspondence, and project tracking

Support initiatives that strengthen Tsilhqot’in language, culture, land-based learning, and traditional knowledge within early learning

Participate in meetings with community and external partners as required

Requirements

ECE Certification or Interest in Early Childhood Education and willingness to explore or pursue ECE training or certification

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is preferred

Experience working with children, youth, families, community programs, education, or administration would be an asset.

Understanding of, or willingness to learn about Tsilhqot’in culture, language, traditions, values, and ways of knowing.

Experience in childcare or early learning environments

Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills

Ability to take direction and feedback

Reliability and punctuality

Working Conditions

Travel may be required

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware

Overtime as required

Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required

Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry - per Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
