Personal Support Worker - Ancaster, ON - CAD$405.00/week
Description
About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a mother recovering from knee replacement surgery scheduled for September 2nd. She will need support during her post-operative recovery period, particularly during weekday daytime hours when family members are at work. While she maintains good cognitive function and can communicate in English, Punjabi is her preferred language for comfort and ease of communication. She currently uses a walker for mobility and will require additional assistance following surgery, especially during the critical first month of recovery.
Responsibilities:
The caregiver will provide midday support, typically arriving around late morning to early afternoon. Primary duties include assisting with light meal preparation and reheating food, ensuring the client is comfortable and safe throughout the visit, and helping with prescribed physiotherapy exercises as directed by her healthcare team. During the initial recovery period, the caregiver will provide personal care assistance including sponge baths due to surgical wound care requirements. Light housekeeping tasks related to meal preparation and maintaining a tidy care workplace are expected. The caregiver should be prepared to assist with mobility support as she uses a walker, and may occasionally need to provide transportation for errands or medical appointments.
What We're Looking For:
We need a reliable PSW with experience in post-operative care, particularly knee replacement recovery. Fluency in Punjabi is strongly preferred to ensure clear communication and comfort. The ideal candidate is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. You should be comfortable working independently, taking initiative when needed,
and maintaining consistent communication with the family about the client's progress. Experience with mobility assistance, prescribed exercise support, and personal care is essential. A valid driver's license is required for occasional transportation needs.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, approximately 3-hour visits during midday hours (flexible between 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM). Care will begin following hospital discharge after September 2nd surgery, with daily visits expected for the first month. Schedule may adjust based on recovery progress, with potential continuation into a second month as needed.

Additional Considerations
Client's mother is recovering from knee replacement surgery scheduled for September 2nd. She will need support during the recovery period, particularly in the first 1-2 months post-surgery.
