The team also provides privacy advice to ensure robust governance practices within the Branch, working alongside the Compliance Team.Role OverviewThis senior legal advisor role supports Capital One Canada’s credit card business, overseeing commercial contracting, vendor arrangements, privacy, data governance, and information protection. Reporting to the Director, Assistant General Counsel, you will partner with business teams and stakeholders to provide timely, solutions‑oriented advice and manage a broad range of responsibilities.Responsibilities- Provide timely legal advice for the credit card business.- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, ensuring compliance with OSFI B10 Guidelines.- Act as subject matter expert on privacy and data protection, providing day‑to‑day implementation guidance and staying current on applicable legislation and regulations.- Conduct legal research and translate advice into practical, actionable business terms.- Advise on new and upcoming legislation and regulatory expectations relevant to the Canada Business.- Develop legal guidance and tools to support business partners in complex legal spaces.- Participate in cross‑functional teams addressing special projects such as legislation implementation and risk management.- Perform other responsibilities as requested.Basic Qualifications- Law degree (LLB or JD)
