Q4 Architects Inc. (Q4A) is a mid-size architectural practice specializing in residential design, community planning and institutional and community buildings. Established in 2004, the Principal, Associates and many of the senior staff have been working together for more than fifteen years. Job Description: This Role is project-dedicated, and the successful candidate will join a team consisting of Project Architects, Project Managers, Job Captains and other design team members to:
Assist with feasibility/preliminary design, including the preparation of conceptual sketches, preliminary plan/elevation designs, site plan proposals, 3D conceptual renderings, and related design deliverables
Advance projects through the design development stage by transforming schematic drawings into coordinated documentation to be used for consultant review, client approvals, and cost estimation.
Prepare permit, tender, and construction documentation in coordination with consultants.
Produce building elevations, floor plans, and site plans including renderings for proposals and marketing
Contribute to the overall success of projects by utilizing office standards and best practices to ensure project deliverables are organized and on schedule
Assist with preparation of material samples, specification drawings and presentation boards
Endorse and maintain firm-wide documentation and filing standards while keeping project deliverables organized and on schedule
We are looking for someone who is curious, driven, and detail-oriented.
With a passion for design-related problem solving and construction aspects of residential architecture.
Qualifications:
Strong AutoCAD skills with experience in Revit, coupled with the ability to effectively integrate both programs into project workflows and deliverables
Fluent in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, BIM360/ACC, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up, and Lumion
Ability to work on a team developing and coordinating drawings
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A solid focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout all phases of design and construction
Diploma in Architectural Technology or Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
Architectural degree Co-op placements are also encouraged to apply
Proven ability to effectively manage project timelines and deliverables
Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
Adaptable and flexible in responding to evolving project priorities and demands.
Portfolio should demonstrate experience producing coordinated construction documents. Wood-frame construction experience is required; experience with steel, masonry, and concrete structures is considered an asset.
Demonstrated expertise using AutoCAD and Revit to produce drawings and construction documents

Located above the National on 17th Ave at 1550 5 St SW Unit 450, Calgary, AB, the office is a short walk from the EB 6th Street and WB 4th Street C-Train station. There is free parking and indoor bike storage with charging stations at the office, which is available to all staff.
The office space itself features an open-concept design which emphasizes our collaboration-based culture and helps to reinforce the concept of group design.
