Fame Fisheries Limited is currently seeking qualified candidates for Second Engineer positions aboard our factory freezer trawler, M/V Newfoundland Victo.

Second Engineer – Factory Freezer Trawl The Second Engineer serves as an Engineering Officer of the Watch and assists the Chief Engineer in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and management of the Engine Department. Must hold the appropriate certification and demonstrate the competence required to relieve the Chief Engineer when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Transport Canada Second-class , Motor Ship certificate with STCW endorsement, or equivalent certificate acceptable to TC

Required Marine Emergency Duties (MED) and survival training

Solid technical background and practical experience with common marine machinery and systems

Demonstrated supervisory and management skills

Minimum three years of experience in a similar position is considered an asset

Experience with marine refrigeration systems and factory processing equipment is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Serving as Engineering Officer of the Watch and supervising the operation and maintenance of machinery, refrigeration systems,



auxiliary equipment, and fish-processing plant

Carrying out and supervising planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs

Supervising engine-room personnel during assigned watches and maintenance activities

Assisting the Chief Engineer with the planning and coordination of maintenance activities

Advising the Chief Engineer regarding the ordering and inventory of spare parts, stores, and consumables

Ensuring that all work within the Engine Department is carried out safely and efficiently and in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and good marine engineering practice

Maintaining the safety and operational integrity of the Engine Department during assigned watch

Rotation and Benefits

The position operates on a rotation of approximately two trips onboard (approximately 46days) followed by two trips off, with some flexibility depending on vessel operation
