Role Description The Civil Infrastructure Construction Health and Safety Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs across streetscape, infrastructure, landscaping, and sewer and water main projects. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site inspections, identifying hazards, supporting job hazard analyses, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and client requirements.
The coordinator will develop and deliver safety training, maintain safety documentation and incident reports, and support investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role collaborates closely with project managers, site supervisors, and crews to promote a proactive safety culture and reduce workplace risks.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Health & Safety and Workplace Safety, with the ability to apply best practices on civil construction sites.
- Experience with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident prevention.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver Safety Training, toolbox talks, and safety orientations tailored to diverse site teams.
- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation, construction regulations, and relevant standards (e.g., OHSA, WSIB requirements).
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience in civil infrastructure, heavy construction, or related sectors preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in office across multiple locations in the GTHA, organize workload effectively, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional safety designations (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent) are considered an advantage.
