Our Substations group is currently looking to add a Construction Manager to our growing team, based in Calgary or Edmonton, AB

Reporting to the Manager, Substation Construction, we are seeking an experienced Construction Manager who has knowledge and experience in high voltage substation, transmission, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction. This individual has the proven skills, competencies, and capacity to manage daily on-site construction activities, support Site Supervisors, and act as the main point of contact for the Site Supervisor, subcontractors, and the Client, and will support various substation and BESS construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and control all aspects of on-site work for high voltage substation, transmission, and BESS projects, ensuring safe, on-time, on-budget delivery

Act as the main point of contact between Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and the Client

Administer compliance with electrical codes (e.g. CSA/OESC), utility technical standards, and permit requirements (e.g. UWPC/PC)

Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) commissioning activities with engineering and client representatives

Manage the change order and RFI process, including cost and schedule impacts and commercial negotiations

Oversee subcontractor performance and lead incident investigations through to closure

Support union labour relations, and train, mentor, and recruit field supervisory staff

Champion site safety culture, including Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) participation and safety audits

Provide input to estimating, proposals, and customer relationship development

Journeyman PSE or Electrician designation

10+years of progressive leadership experience in the construction industry

Valid driver's licence with an acceptable driving record

Proven ability to manage large work groups of up to 50 people at any one time

Experience with Microsoft Office, and project scheduling/cost reporting software (e.g. Primavera P6,



MS Project)

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

Post-Secondary education in a related field

Working towards a professional designation (P.Eng., PMP, SCMP)

Working knowledge of collective agreements and applicable union labour frameworks

Familiarity with commissioning frameworks (FAT/SAT) and utility permit types (e.g. UWPC/PC)

Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), HVDC, or renewable integration projects
