DEVOPS SPECIALIST - SENIOR

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking senior DevOps Specialists to support service innovation, program review and digital-transformation initiatives in a large, complex public-sector environment. The resource will work full time across two to three cross-functional product-delivery projects and will oversee quality throughout the delivery of digital services.

ENGAGEMENT DETAILS

- 10+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud operations, or continuous delivery.
- Candidate rate: CAD $100 per hour.
- Primarily remote within Canada, with occasional onsite meetings or work sessions on reasonable notice (up to approximately 15%).
- Full-time engagement supporting two to three projects, up to 1,960 hours per term.
- All work and data must remain within Canada.
- The resource is responsible for required equipment, software, and a suitable home-office environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Create automation scripts, tools, and procedures for reliable, low-downtime deployments and maintenance.
- Manage production configuration and credentials; support database upgrades, migrations, backups, and recovery.
- Develop reusable deployment templates, delivery patterns, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Automate development and test environment provisioning.
- Implement observability, monitoring, logging, and telemetry.
- Support integration, security, system, performance, and load testing.
- Support alpha and beta launches and continuous product delivery.
- Design automated and responsibly AI-enabled solutions that improve delivery quality and efficiency.
- Develop test plans, cases, scenarios, and automated test suites.




- Participate in field research, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint execution.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

- Continuous delivery of custom software solutions.
- Hybrid cloud platforms and Red Hat OpenShift.
- GitHub Actions.
- Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
- Ownership and improvement of CI/CD pipelines.
- Automated testing, deployment, monitoring, logging, and observability.
- Secure, high-performing, and reliable production operations.
- Responsible use of AI-enabled automation in delivery-grade work.

SECURITY AND WORK REQUIREMENTS

- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- A criminal-record check and enhanced security screening may be required.
- Must be able to collaborate effectively through Microsoft Teams.
- Any expenses related to occasional onsite attendance are the resource’s responsibility.

REQUIRED PROJECT EXAMPLES

Include at least two recent DevOps project examples at the end of the resume. For each example, clearly state:

- Project overview and your specific DevOps responsibilities.
- Sector, approximate user count, and delivery-team size.
- Tools and technologies used.
- How you supported continuous delivery of custom solutions.
