Business Development Manager – North America Help to grow our business
The BDM is responsible for primarily developing and expanding the company’s business with Key Accounts through increased penetration at existing customers along with new market and account development activity. New account development should be considered the single most important element of the BDM’s area of responsibility. They will be focused on developing the company’s business across our product lines.
Their main objective is to target, develop, and continue to grow the company’s business in new markets (inside & outside NA) with key new customers, by identifying opportunities that will elevate Sciemetric’s global position within the company’s areas of core competence. They will support the organization relative to the execution of sales objectives established annually by the company’s management team.
Responsibilities
Meet or exceed company sales targets
Target, contact, penetrate and develop corporate accounts, industry segments and applications, especially those that have global reach and stretch beyond the boundaries of a single geographic sales territory.
Sales forecasts and performance, negotiating contracts and managing order bookings sales orders
Develop strategic plan to grow sales and mature the accounts into higher revenue
Conduct visits to net new customer sites, as well as existing customers on a regular basis to grow relationship and increase sales
Lead sales calls, demos, and support relationships with key accounts as requested
Assist marketing in organizing seminars, direct mailers, and trade shows as required
Present strategies to the company to target, penetrate, and develop new markets and new accounts
Focus on connecting dots between OEM HQ locations and the individual territories where targeted Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier customers may reside
Participate in the product planning process to help define the product development roadmap focusing on ideas that can expand the company’s reach into recent markets with new customers
Willingness to travel over 40% of the time
Perform product demonstrations exhibiting technical proficiency and communicating the appropriate value proposition to maximize the potential of achieving the company’s sales objectives (emphasizing expansion into new markets with new customers)
Provide a monthly report highlighting the status of YTD vs actual revenue objectives, a revenue/unit forecast, new customer development progress and target account development status
Provide weekly activity summary that are aligned with monthly and annual objectives
A strong sales hunter drive
Act as a leader within the company
Minimum Qualifications
Engineering degree or equivalent technical sales experience
Prior sales experience preferred
Strong sales and marketing aptitude
Must be able to quickly learn value of our products to the end customer’s and be able to clearly articulate this to customers
A sound technical understanding in automotive and/or industrial manufacturing processes, industrial automation, test and measurement, and software and hardware systems for quality control
A good technical understanding of instrumentation, electrical measurements and sensors would be an asset
Must be able to travel a minimum 50% (mainly within NA, some international), and as required to ensure successful execution of business plan
