The Opportunity Build the Future With Us Help shape the safety, quality, and performance of critical infrastructure projects. As a Geotechnical/Materials Technician, you will play a hands‑on role in delivering field and laboratory testing services that support informed engineering decisions and successful project outcomes across transportation, industrial, commercial, and community infrastructure projects.
Your Impact This position will require working on out‑of‑town projects. In this role, you will spend your time conducting a variety of field and laboratory testing on asphalt pavements, concrete, aggregates, and soils while supporting major construction and infrastructure projects across Alberta. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, gaining hands‑on technical experience, and contributing to large‑scale projects that help shape communities and industry.
Construction monitoring on projects including, excavations, subgrade inspection, shallow foundations, pile monitoring (cast‑in‑place concrete, driven steel, etc.
Preparation of inspection reports and data entry.
Follow WSP’s Project Review, Ethics and Safety Policies.
Construction monitoring of roads, pads, buildings etc.
Geotechnical instrumentation reading.
Geotechnical Drill Rig nonrioting.
Field Concrete testing.
Field Compaction testing.
Sieve Analysis
Proctors
Cylinder Breaking
CSA calibrations
Moisture Contents
Asphalt
Maintain orderliness of laboratory.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Geotechnical Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience performing field and laboratory testing of soils, asphalt, concrete, and aggregates.
Knowledge of CSA, ASTM, and related industry testing standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as required.
Commitment to health, safety, and quality performance.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT:
$34.20 - $45.30 / hour
MB & ON:
$31.20 - $43 / hour
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC:
$30.90 - $41 / hour
