New Value Solutions (NVS), a national IT consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to support a client's network infrastructure upgrade initiative. The engineer will provide senior technical leadership for the build, configuration, documentation, and implementation of new network infrastructure while ensuring established technical, cabling, power distribution, and infrastructure standards are followed. Responsibilities
Oversee and provide technical direction to the team responsible for the configuration, build, documentation, and implementation of new network infrastructure equipment. Review technical documentation prepared by engineers and external Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDDs) to ensure applicable client standards are followed. Review equipment requirements and recommend Telecommunications Room (TR) power components based on equipment loads. Identify proposed deviations from established standards and communicate associated risks to project managers and stakeholders. Support the preparation and completion of formal risk assessments where infrastructure deviations or compromises are being considered. Assist contractors with developing infrastructure solutions, including current pathways, telecommunications spaces, secure building penetrations, and fire stopping. Work with project managers and technical teams to evaluate infrastructure options, identify potential compromises, and recommend solutions for client approval. Coordinate and support site preparation activities required for network infrastructure installations. Provide technical support for additional hardware components associated with network infrastructure implementations. Perform hands-on infrastructure and physical installation activities as required. Provide network implementation and production cutover support outside normal business hours when required. Requirements
10+ years of experience with cabling installation and structured cabling design, including both fiber optic and copper cabling. 7+ years of IT networking infrastructure experience. Strong knowledge of international telecommunications and infrastructure standards, including BICSI, IEEE, CSA, TIA, and EIA. Strong understanding of power distribution practices and infrastructure, including UPS, PDU, and ATS systems. Strong knowledge of data networks, network connectivity, and voice communications, including PBX and IP telephony. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with project management practices and PMP standards. Ability to review technical designs, drawings, infrastructure documentation, and implementation plans. Ability to identify infrastructure risks, deviations from standards, and potential technical compromises. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, contractors, project managers, and client stakeholders. Ability and willingness to perform hands-on/site-based infrastructure activities when required. Ability to provide production implementation and cutover support outside normal business hours when required. Preferred
Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification. Experience with data centre infrastructure and design. Previous experience working within healthcare environments.
