Under the general supervision of the Land Use Plan Coordinator, the Land Use Planner will support Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) Lands and Resources department in the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of homelands planning processes. This role contributes to ensuring that strategies are aligned with community values, practices and aspirations for the land.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Post-Secondary education in Regional Planning, Environmental Studies, Indigenous Studies, Geography, or related field. A combination of education or training and/or experience will be considered.
- Understanding of First Nation land stewardship principles, traditional land use, and the relationship between First Nation peoples and their homelands is considered an asset.
- Understanding of traditional land use studies and Indigenous knowledge systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Moose Cree culture, language, and traditional territory is a solid asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and in a team environment.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Willing to work outside normal work hours as required.
- Must provide a satisfactory CPIC or proof of application.
- Valid class G driver’s license is required.
