Are you a licensed Professional Engineer ready to build and lead a controls engineering discipline? Our client, a growing manufacturer of custom equipment for the mining and industrial sectors, is seeking a Lead Mechatronics Engineer to strengthen its electrical and automation capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you will influence engineering standards, guide projects from concept through commissioning, and help shape the future of the controls team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Establish and lead the company’s controls engineering discipline, including standards, templates, and best practices

Design, review, approve, and seal electrical control systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and related engineering documents

Develop, review, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications using Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, IQAN, and other automation platforms

Ensure designs comply with CSA, CEC, UL, NFPA, IEC, machinery safety, and customer requirements

Lead Factory Acceptance Testing and support Site Acceptance Testing, equipment commissioning, and customer start-up

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technologists





WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

A bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline A P.Eng. designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario, with the ability to review, approve, and seal engineering documents

At least five years of industrial controls and automation engineering experience

Strong experience with PLC programming, HMI development, electrical controls, VFDs, and industrial automation systems

Knowledge of applicable CSA, CEC, UL, NFPA, IEC, and machinery safety standards

Solid engineering judgment, leadership abilities, and experience supporting FAT, SAT, and equipment commissioning
